0 Comments Che Grand “Breakfast At Wimbledon” mixtape

Posted by The Elitaste on the 08 Nov 2008, in Announcements

A few months ago I started writing a script for this movie I titled Breakfast @ Wimbledon. It’s the story of a young Nigerian-British immigrant living in Brooklyn New York, dealing with family, faith, personal turmoil as well as trying to make it in the hip hop industry. Lots of sex, drugs, illegal aliens and high speed chase scenes thru Bedstuy. There’s also a great closing shoot out scene on a tennis court. It’s like a Quentin Tarantino flick meets Brown Sugar…. son!

I want to be clear, I had NO desire to make a mixtape (one day I’ll really make this terrible movie so you can see I wasn’t bullshittin hahaha). The truth is I didn’t want to put out any music until my album was finally available for the masses. The frustration of waiting and waiting is a silent killer which a few people know i’ve struggled with for awhile. However, it seems “Everything’s Good Ugly” may soon see light of day, so this mixtape is kind of a celebration!

Shouts to Matt for harassing me into putting this shit together, 6th Sense and Optix for letting me come to their studios to do random songs like Usain Bolt Rap Shit and Restart. Special Thanks to sites like 2Dope Boyz, my dude Khal at Rock The Dub, Rappers I Know and other dope blogs/podcasts constantly giving my material a platform. Big up the people who asked me to guest on their songs and then let me add it to the mix, the friendly faces I always see at shows, and of course Lessondary fam! Enjoy! – Che Grand

Jean-Claude Van Damme is back and he’s playing himself. Check out the trailer and teaser (below) for JCVD. Opens Friday in NY and LA. I cannot wait to see this.

From Wikipedia: JCVD is a French meta-action film directed by Mabrouk El Mechri starring Jean-Claude Van Damme as the title role. Van Damme plays himself, a down-and-out action star whose family and career are crumbling around him, as he’s caught in a bank heist in his hometown of Brussels, Belgium. JCVD is Jean-Claude Van Damme’s filmed redemption; a weary hero’s only shot to get back what he lost with fame.

The filmmaker was most prominently influenced by Jean-Luc Godard[6] and collaborations between Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman. El Mechri said about Being John Malkovich[1] “Spike Jonze and Charlie Kaufman were very successful in the abyss of a man who plays in a fiction. Their work on the deconstruction of fame is brilliant.”

El Mechri’s main visual influence was Robert Richardson, who was the cinematographer on a number of Oliver Stone and Martin Scorsese films. Directorial influences include the likes of Robert Wise (The Day the Earth Stood Still), Sidney Lumet (Dog Day Afternoon), P.T. Anderson (There Will Be Blood), and Chan-wook Park (Oldboy). El Mechri says that his favorite Van Damme film is Bloodsport.

0 Comments Rachel Zoe Project

Posted by The Elitaste on the 04 Nov 2008, in Announcements

Guys…you wanna impress your girl? Or you wanna make it seem like you care about what she’s in to? Get hip to THE RACHEL ZOE PROJECT. It’s a reality show on Bravo about this celebrity stylist and girls flip over this shit. The show actually isn’t that bad it’s just really ridiculous and clearly made for chicks; literally every girl I know is obsessed with it. Anyway, yesterday I was at lunch with Rich Kleiman and his friend Jamie Patricoff who is one of the producers on the show and Roger, Rachel Zoe’s husband, showed up to join us. Really nice guy and he told me about a youtube parody of the show that’s pretty funny. Basically Rachel and her assistant kinda talk like they are high of Quaaludes and whenever she sees a piece of clothing she likes, she says shit like “I’m gonna die.” In the parody they are like “oh my god, this sweater just gave me pancreatic cancer.” Peep it. And to guys with girls…try mentioning this show to your girl and see what happens…post reactions in the comments section. Parody after the jump (more…)
